This event supports Congregation Beth Sholom's mission of Tikkun Olam: "Repairing the World" through good works
Congregation Beth Sholom is the largest Jewish congregation in Alaska, serving Anchorage and surrounding communities. The congregation initiates and supports programs to achieve Tikkun Olam, a Hebrew phrase that means "repair of the world." The Shining Lights Award recognizes those who exemplify the ideals of Tikkun Olam. Proceeds from this event support the secular community work of Congregation Beth Sholom to repair the world. We do this through numerous community outreach, partnerships, and education activities in the Anchorage area. Tikkun Olam connects us across communities and religions – throughprojects like Mitzvah Mall, Thanksgiving Blessings, the Anne Frank Remembrance Fund, and the Joy Greisen Jewish Education Center.
